Goshkas, it's been 1 month & 3 days since our last update.. We've seen so many new things and a few new changes have happened..
First of all our trip to New Zealand & Fiji was AWESOME.. New Zealand was it's usual hectic-ness of catching up with everyone we could, going mountain biking, going up the Sky Tower (my first time & a newly acquired fear of heights made it pretty terrifying), going out to Muriwai, all sorts of stuff - not to forget eating lots of pies.. haha..
But Fiji was magical. Waya Island in the Yasawas was absolutely pristine and pretty much deserted - what more could you ask for?? We stayed with the rest of the wedding guests (about 40) at the Octopus Resort which is a bit of an eco-lodge type of thing, all solar powered with snorkelling to die for right off the beach.. The island only has 3 local villages on it and just the one place to stay. It made for a killer setting for Andy & Margaret's wedding, which was held on the beach under an arch of flowers with a Fijian choir singing standing out on the rocks, all over the noise of crashing waves.. It was beautiful & the party that followed was heaps of fun.. We got to catch up with some old faces from the UK - Tony, Brad, Diane, and the infamous Kent Johns were all there in fine form, not to mention Marg & Andy. We went scuba diving one day, snorkelling the next, hiked to the nearby village, played beach volleyball, swam & swam, experienced quite a few cava ceremonies & meke dances along with some of the most amazing scenery you can imagine.. Ahh to be back on the island.. So - if you can't already guess, it comes highly recommended to check out if you are heading that way.
Now, to the new news.. We're going to have to take back the earlier invitation we sent out to come and visit us on the Gold Coast. Our plans have changed. Rich was offered a good job down in Melbourne last week, and he accepted & already left last Thursday.. So, I decided I'd stick around here with ma & pa, help out around the place, for a few weeks then head down. Rich has to come back up at the end of the month anyways as he's got mates coming to visit him here, so we'll go back down to Melbourne together afterwards..
I CAN'T WAIT! Very exciting times.. The contract is just for 4 months, until the end of the year so we will see how we go.. So now, a new invitation:
Our home in Melbourne (when we find one!) will be open to our friends at all times so please feel free to fire us an email, or call, if you're heading this way - or even if you weren't, but think you will now.. Stop by!
So, I'm on a job hunt now. Rich is already loving it down there, it sounds like a mini-London but with water.. hmm, interesting because that's what I always thought London lacked.. Melbourne should be perfect!
